Welcome to the First Danish Conference on Viruses of Microbes
Bacteriophages (phages) are viruses that infect and kill bacteria. These remarkable organisms are increasingly recognized for their transformative applications across health, biotechnology, and agriculture. Their versatility and potential to tackle complex challenges have drawn growing interest in recent years, benefitting society in numerous ways.
In the Nordic countries—and Denmark in particular—phage research is gaining momentum. A network of phage scientists is emerging, fostering collaboration and innovation across the region.
This conference marks a historic milestone as the first dedicated event for phage researchers in Denmark. It aims to become a cornerstone for Danish phage research, providing a platform to:
-
Spark new collaborations and strengthen existing partnerships.
-
Exchange insights on recent, ongoing, and upcoming research activities.
-
Discuss future opportunities and explore synergies across phage biology and related fields.
One of the conference's key objectives is to lay the foundation for a robust Nordic research network. This event will pave the way for the establishment of an official Danish Society for Viruses of Microbes, ensuring a lasting legacy for collaboration and scientific excellence.
Join us as we advance the frontier of phage research and shape the future of microbial virus studies in Denmark and beyond.

Organizing Committee
At the Danish Viruses of Microbes, we are committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for all participants, regardless of their background, career stage, or personal circumstances.
We believe that science thrives on diversity, and we are dedicated to amplifying the voices of early-career researchers. As such, we are actively prioritizing talks and presentations from early-career scientists to highlight their contributions and foster their professional growth. We also recognize the importance of supporting individuals with families. To make the conference accessible to everyone, children are welcome in the conference spaces. If you have specific needs, please feel free to reach out to us—we are here to help.
By fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere, we aim to encourage collaboration, innovation, and the sharing of ideas across the global phage community.
